Description:

In our first of many Trainee Spotlights, we feature Jakob Jung and Sarah Overby. Jakob Jung is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB), at the University of Würzburg. Jakob will present will cover their most recent work, using high throughput sequencing to understand and predict bacterial on-target- and off-target responses to ASOs. This has led their team to develop a web-tool for designing ASO-based antibiotics based on data-driven design principles, including rules governing off-target effects for peptide nucleic acid (PNA) antibiotics. Dr. Sarah Overby is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Universitat de València. She will speak of her Ph.D. work which involved BlockmiR antisense oligonucleotides with peptide conjugates to modulate DM1 disease related miRNAs and rescue symptoms in DM1 cells and mice.
