One of OTS’s core values is to provide trustworthy information to the public, to provide access to experts, and to amplify the voices of patients.
In 2022, the society established two awards to recognize outstanding contributions by individuals who share their scientific knowledge with the public, or who promote patient advocacy.
The OTS Awards for Science Outreach and Patient Advocacy aim to recognize the efforts of researchers and individuals who excel in these areas. OTS welcomes
nominations for both of these awards annually.
Eligibility:
- Any individual who is making a positive change in the community through science outreach or patient advocacy can be nominated, regardless of affiliation or career status
- Prior winners are not eligible
Nominations:
- All nominations must include a summary of accomplishments which detail the nominee’s most significant contributions to date, i.e. research, mentorship, outreach, and/or any other relevant information
- Letter of recommendation that highlights the impact of the nominee’s outreach or advocacy
- CV / biographical sketch of the nominee
- Deadline to submit a nomination for 2024 Awards is June 30, 2024
Recipients receive:
- $500 USD award & certificate
- Complimentary registration to the current year’s OTS Annual Meeting
- Featured profile on OTS social media
- Option to present a webinar
