Martin Egli and Muthiah Manoharan’s Review of Approved Oligonucleotide Therapeutics

Martin Egli and Muthiah Manoharan recently co-wrote an outstanding review that is a great resource for anyone in our community. The review, titled “Chemistry, structure and function of approved oligonucleotide therapeutics,” is a collection of information about the eighteen nucleic acid therapeutics that have been approved in the last 25 years. Readers will gain knowledge from their insights and the information provided about the modes of action, chemical modifications of DNA and RNA, breakthroughs in lipid formulation and GalNAc conjugation of modified oligonucleotides, and much more.

As our OTS President, David Corey, stated about the review “We now have ‘one stop shopping’ that will be as useful to the established practitioner as it is for the beginning student or the venture capitalist considering an investment. Most remarkable and unique, however, is that the article is filled from start to finish with a love of the field and the beauty of the science.”

Martin Egli and Muthiah Manoharan have made significant contributions to the field and to our society, and we greatly appreciate the time and effort they spent crafting this review to share their insights and comprehensive information on the nucleic acid therapeutics that have been approved.
