Maire Fiona Osborn is currently a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award postdoctoral fellow in the RNA Therapeutics Institute at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Maire’s postdoctoral research goals are to address some of the fundamental challenges facing siRNA delivery to the central nervous system and extrahepatic tissues by employing novel chemical and structural RNA modifications.
Maire received her Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Oregon in 2014, where she investigated cytoplasmic RNA crosslinking and structural perturbation by platinum-based cancer therapeutics. Prior to this, she earned a B.Sc. with Honors in Chemistry from McGill University in Montreal, QC.
Before her appointment to the OTS Board of Directors, she served as the Chair of Business Development for the RNA Society. As a junior representative, she will help to plan career development and networking events at the annual meeting, and will represent the interests of younger scientists during organizational meetings with the Board.
